மாமல்லப்புரத்தின் எல்லைப் பகுதியில் வலையன்குட்டை அருகே அமைந்துள்ளது இந்த வலையன்குட்டை ரதம், இதனால் அதன் பெயரிடப்பட்டது என்று புலனாகிறது. பிடாரி ரதத்திற்கு தெற்கில் காணப்படும், இந்த ஒற்றைக் கல் ரதமானது வடிவத்தில் சிறியதாக இருந்தாலும் எழில் மிகுந்ததாக அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
சதுரமான நாகரி சிகரத்தை கொன்டு, இரண்டு அடுக்கு விமானமாக குடையப்பட்டுள்ளது. கிழக்கு நோக்கிய இந்த ஒற்றைக்கல் தலியானது, முகப்பில் முக மண்டபமும் அதனுடன் கருவறையும் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. முக மண்டபத்தின் நுழைவாயில் இரண்டு தூண்கள் மற்றும் இரண்டு அரை தூண்களோடு சூழப்பட்டுள்ளது.
சிகரத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு முகத்திலும் நாசி உள்ளன, ஒவ்வொரு நாசியிலும் ஒரு சிறிய ஆலயம் போன்ற அமைப்பு உள்ளது. சுவர் பகுதிக்கு மேல் காணப்படும் கபோதத்தின் நாசியில் எந்தவித மனித தலை /கந்தர்வர் உருவம் இல்லாமல் வெறுமையாக உள்ளது.
கீழ் பகுதி செவ்வகம் வடிவில், வெறுமையாக உள்ளது. பிடாரி ரதங்களை விட இது சற்று முடிவடைந்த நிலையில் உள்ளது. வலையன்குட்டை ரதமும் அர்ஜுனன் ரதமும் கலைநயத்தில் ஒத்துப்போவதை காண முடியும். இக்கோயில் பாதியில் விடப்பட்டுள்ளதால் கல்வெட்டுகள் இன்றி காணப்படுகின்றது. கட்டிட அமைப்பை வைத்து இது முதலாம் நரசிம்மவர்மன் காலத்தில் குடையப்பட்டிருக்கலாம் என்பது வல்லுனர்களில் கருத்து.

On the other side of Mamallapuram town, in a remote location, Valaiyankuttai Ratha is located. Located to the south of the Pidari Ratha, this single-stone ratha is small in form but elegantly constructed.
The Vimana has a Dvi-Tala / two-tiered with a square shikhara. The wall and the Aditana (base) are rectangular. This monolithic thali facing east has a Mukha Mandapa in front, followed by Sanctum Sanctorum. Two pillars and two pilasters flank the entrance to the Mukha Mandapam.
Valayankuttai Ratha and Arjunan Ratha artistically seem similar in style. This site is left unfinished, hence no inscriptions. Experts believe that it may have been built during the time of Narasimhavarman I based on the structure of the building.
