ஓணம்பாக்கம் எனும் இவ்வூரானது தமிழ்நாட்டின் செங்கல்பட்டு மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள மதுராந்தகம் தாலுகாவில் உள்ள ஒரு சிறிய கிராமம் ஆகும். இந்த ஓணம்பாக்கம் 1200 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலான பாரம்பரியம் கொண்டது மற்றும் 8 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் ஒரு ஜெயின் மையமாக இருந்தது. குறத்திமலை, கூசாமலை, பட்டிமலை, மற்றும் வெண்மணிமலை என நான்கு குன்றுகளை மக்கள் குறிப்பிடுகின்றனர். ஆனால், திரும்பிய பக்கமெல்லாம் குவாரியின் தாக்கத்தால் அடையாளம் காண முடியவில்லை, மேலும், அடையாள பலகை இல்லாததால், சவாலாக உள்ளது. இந்த தளத்தை அடைவதற்கான பாதை சரிவர இல்லாமையால் தனிமையில் செல்வதை தவிர்க்கவும்.
இந்த குறிப்பிட்ட மலை, ‘குறத்திமலை‘ அல்லது “சமணர் மலை“, அக்காலத்தில் சமண துறவிகள் மற்றும் தமிழ் சமணர்களால் பரவலாக பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. மலையின் உச்சியில் மூன்று சிற்பங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஒரு சிறிய பாறையில் ஒரு சிறிய கோவிலைப் போன்று உருவாக்கி அதில், கிழக்கு நோக்கியவாறு பார்சுவநாதரின் உருவத்தை அழகாக அமைத்துள்ளனர். பார்சுவநாதர் மற்றும் யக்ஷன் & யக்ஷியின் தலையை இருபுறமும் மறைக்கும் ஐந்து தலை நாகமும் காணப்படுகின்றன. இப்பாறையின் வலப்புறம், கி.பி. எட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டை சேர்ந்த கல்வெட்டு காணப்படுகிறது. இதில், “இருபத்து இரண்டு” என்ற சமணப்பிரிவை நிர்வகிக்கும் வாசுதேவ சித்தாந்த படாரர் என்ற சமண முனிவர், இக்கோயிலை செய்வித்த செய்தி வடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மேற்கு நோக்கிய மற்றொரு பாறைக் கல்லில் ‘ஆதிநாதர்‘ புடைப்பு சிற்பமாக செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும் இடது மேற்புறத்தில் மற்றொரு தீர்த்தங்கரர் உருவம் வெட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது, அறிஞர்கள் அவரை ‘மகாவீரர்‘ என்று குறிப்பிடுகின்றனர்.

Onampakkam is a small village in Maduranthakam taluk in Chengalpattu distric, Tamil Nadu. This Onampakkam has over 1200 years of heritage and was a Jain centre during the 8th century. People mention four hillocks: Kurathimalai, Koosamalai, Pattimalai and Venmanimalai. But we couldn’t identify it due to the quarry, and also, it is challenging due to the lack of a sign board. The pathway to reach this site is not recommended for going alone.
This particular hill, ‘Kurathimalai‘ or “Samanar Malai“, is extensively used by Jain Monks and Tamil Jains. There are three sculptures found on top of the hillock. Our ancestors built a small temple on a small rock where Parshwanatha’s image facing east is nicely carved. Five-headed snakes, which cover the head of Parshwanatha and Yakshan & Yakshi on either side, are also seen. On the right side is an inscription that states that Vasudeva Siddhantha Padarar, a Jain monk who governed the “Irupathi Irandu” (Tamil: இருபத்து இரண்டு) branch of Tamil Jains, had built this temple.
And in another rock stone facing west, ‘Adinath‘ was carved. And to the left top, another Tirthankara image is cut where scholars mention him as ‘Mahavira‘.
