கொற்றவை வழிபாடு | தூக்கு தலை நடுகற்கள்

சோழர் காலத்தின் (10 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு) மாவீரர் கல் / நடுகல் (தூங்கு தலை அல்லது தூக்கு தலை) ராணிப்பேட்டை மாவட்டம் பாலூர் எனும் ஊரில் உள்ளது. முற்காலத்தில் கொற்றவை வழிபாட்டில் ஒன்றாக கருதப்பட்டது இந்த நடுகல் மரபு. இவ்வகையான நடுகல் மிகவும் அரிதானதாகும்.

இங்கே வீரன் ஒருவனின் தலையில் உள்ள குடுமியை ஒரு மூங்கிலில் கட்டப்பட்டு, பிறகு அவரது தலை துண்டிக்கப்படும். தலை துண்டிக்கப்படும்பொழுது மூங்கிலின் உந்து சக்தியால், குருதி தெறிக்க வீரனின் தலை பாகம் மட்டும் மேலோங்கி செல்லும். இப்படி செல்கயில், வீரனின் ஆன்மாவானது சொர்க்கத்திற்கு செல்லும் என்று நம்பினார்கள் நம் முன்னோர்கள்.

பொதுவாக கொற்றவைக்கு “தூங்கு தலை” பலியிடுவது வெவ்வேறு காரணங்களுக்காக இருக்கும். அரசர்களின் நலம் பெறுதல், போரில் வெற்றி பெறுதல், நோய் நீங்குதல் போன்றவை காரணங்களாக இருக்கலாம். இந்த நடுகல்லில் “மதுரை கொண்ட கோபரகேசரி…” – “மதிரை கொண்ட முதலாம் பராந்தக சோழன்” எனத் தொடங்கும் கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. கோப்பரகேசரி… “மீதமுள்ள செய்திகள் மிகவும் அரிக்கப்பட்டவை மற்றும் படிக்க முடியாதவை. எனவே இது 10ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் வைக்கப்பட்ட நடுகல்லாக இருக்கலாம்.

Thoongu Thalai | Thooku Thalai | Virakallu

“Thoongu Thalai or Thooku Thalai” belongs to the Chola Period (10th Century) Hero Stone / Nadukal. This Hero Stone carries an image of a “Hero” who sacrificed himself to Kotravai. This type of Hero stone is considered a rare one. The hero’s head will be tied to one end of the bamboo with flexibility, and a person will chop off the head of the hero, and the head will be lifted in the space. Ancestors believed that he directly went to heaven once the hero’s head was chopped. Usually, “Thoongu Thalai” sacrifice to Goddess Kotravai will be for different causes. The causes may include getting the wellness of kings, victory over the war, getting cured of diseases, etc. The hero stone has the inscription starting with the title of Parantaka Chozha-I as “Madurai Konda Koparakesari…” – “மதிரை கொண்ட கோப்பரகேசரி… “The rest of the messages are highly eroded and are not readable.
