முப்பத்திரண்டு(32) பட்டைகளுடன் காட்சி தரும் பல்லவர் கால எழில்மிகு தர்மதாரா லிங்கம். 8 அல்லது 9ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு காலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவை என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது.
சிவலிங்கங்களில் பலவிதங்கள் உண்டு, அதில் பாணப்பகுதியில் பட்டைகள் அமைந்துள்ள சிவலிங்கங்களையும் சில திருத்தலங்களில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அவ்வைகையான இலிங்கங்களை “தாராலிங்கம்’ என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன.
சிற்ப சாஸ்திரத்தின் விதிப்படி, தாராலிங்கங்கள் ஐந்து வகைப்படும் என்று கூறுகின்றது. அதாவது 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 என்ற விகிதத்தில் பட்டைகள் /தாரைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
நான்கு பட்டைகள் கொண்ட இலிங்கங்களை ‘வேதலிங்கம்’ என்றும், எண் பட்டைகளைக் கொண்ட இலிங்கங்களை “அஷ்டதாரா இலிங்கம்“ என்றும், பதினாறு பட்டைகள் உடைய இலிங்கங்களை “சோடச தாராலிங்கம்” என்றும், முப்பத்திரண்டு பட்டைகள் உடைய இலிங்கம் “தர்மதாரா இலிங்கம்” என்றும் 64 பட்டைகளுடன் காணப்படும் அபூர்வ இலிங்கத் திருவுரு- கலைகள், சிவபெருமானின் 64 லீலா விநோதங்கள், 64 யோகியர்களைக் குறிக்கும் என்று கூறுவர்.

Thirty-two (32) striped Pallava period Dharmadara Linga and the scholars believe to date to the 8th or 9th century. Shastra says that there are five types of Dhara Linga. Based on the number of stripes, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64, the Dhara Linga was carved. Out of two Rishabams, one Rishaba’s head is turned towards the right.
